Ruva Chigwedere

Ruva Chigwedere [SAPPHO] is a Zimbabwean-born, New York-based actor and singer. Some of her favorite credits include: The Lady in Purple in FOR COLORED GIRLS (BlackCAST), Kate in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (LAMDA), and the Third Lady in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE (Harvard College Opera). A trained vocalist, Ruva has also sung with many classical and gospel ensembles. Outside of performing, Ruva has delved into the world of playwriting, recently completing her work FOR DAUGHTERS OF EZILI; OR HOW TO BE A BLACK GIRL AND FIND LOVE AND SURVIVE 101.

Ruva is a recent graduate of Harvard College, where she completed a joint concentration in Theater, Dance and Media and History and Literature. Ruva has trained with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the AST National Academy of Theater Arts in Kraków, the SoHo Shakespeare Company, and Atlantic Acting School. In the near future, Ruva will be moving to Paris to learn French and teach high school students English before she comes back to the United States to pursue acting full-time!
