DO NOT MOVE STONES at the Settlement Quarry

AUGUST 27–29, 2021

ANNA + MARVIN and the Reach Performing Arts Center collaborate to mount DO NOT MOVE STONES, their own retelling of Aeschylus’ THE SUPPLIANTS based on an adaptation by Charles Mee and the fragmentary poetry of the Ancient Greek poet Sappho. DO NOT MOVE STONES is a family-friendly production that strikes an important balance between uproarious comedy and moving poignancy as it grapples with two questions: what are the social contracts into which we are born and how do we respond to those unspoken rules?

Through a partnership with the land conservancy Island Heritage Trust, DNMS will be presented safely outdoors in late August at the Settlement Quarry, a defunct granite quarry on Deer Isle.
