GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES

BY RAJIV JOSEPH

WITH ANNA FITZGERALD AND MARVIN MERRITT IV

PERFORMANCE || SATURDAY [01/16] 7:00PM ET

ABOUT THE PLAY
Over the course of 30 years, the lives of Kayleen and Doug intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading the two childhood friends to compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together. Meeting at the nurse’s office in their elementary school, these “scar-crossed lovers” meet again and again, brought together by injury, heartbreak, and their own self-destructive tendencies.

With great compassion and humor, RAJIV JOSEPH crafts a compelling and unconventional love story about the intimacy between two people when they allow their defenses to drop and their wounds to show.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
ANNA FITZGERALD and MARVIN MERRITT IV collaborate to mount an immersive retelling that blurs the line between theater and film. Staged in and around a beautiful oceanfront property on the western coast of Deer Isle, the duo utilize in-ear technique and an iPhone 11 Pro to dynamically bring you this moving play in the New Year. The performance will be streamed from Moss Ledge Cottage on Deer Isle and presented online for you to enjoy safely at home.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Come learn the foundations of in-ear acting in our virtual workshop! You will leave knowing in-ear technique — a tool to stay present in your acting work and to accelerate the artistic process. We will also discuss how to create online theater and how best to transition yourself from Harvard undergraduate to early career professional, including how to market yourself, leverage your networks, and become an entrepreneur in your field.

This workshop is open to the public for viewing, but only current students at Harvard University will be able to participate. Produced in collaboration with the Office for the Arts at Harvard.
